Vol. 1 No. 2 (2026)
It is with great pleasure that we present the second issue of RIMCEO, the Journal of Maintenance Engineering, Reliability, and Operational Excellence of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Federico Santa María Technical University. This issue features seven articles on applications of reliability, maintenance, and risk analysis in various industrial sectors.
In the natural gas processing sector, two papers examine normalized maintenance cost as a management indicator and the reliability of a compression fleet using the Crow-AMSAA model. A third article presents an FMECA methodology that incorporates climate risk into electrical distribution assets.
This issue also includes experimental research on the first critical speed of a centrifuge, a qualitative analysis of criticality in subsystems of an astronomical observatory, and an application of root cause analysis to a vertical impact crusher in the aggregates sector. The seventh paper addresses criticality and risk in comprehensive reliability using advanced analytics.
These articles show how engineering methods can provide evidence to improve decisions regarding maintenance, investment, and asset management. We thank the authors, reviewers, and contributors who made this issue possible, and we invite the academic and professional community to explore these findings.

Vol. 1 No. 1 (2026)
It is with great satisfaction that we present the first issue of RIMCEO (Journal of Maintenance Engineering, Reliability and Operational Excellence), an editorial initiative of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, aimed at disseminating research, industrial experiences, and technological developments in maintenance engineering, operational reliability, asset management and integrity, risk analysis, and operational excellence.
This first edition carries significant institutional value: it brings together the contributions of faculty members from the Department as authors and co-authors, alongside final-year Maintenance Engineering students, reflecting a commitment to professional training, applied research, and industry engagement.
The seven published articles address real-world applications in sectors such as manufacturing, energy, chemical industry, power generation, and the sanitation sector, demonstrating how modern methodologies in asset management, reliability, maintenance, risk-based inspection, and root cause analysis contribute to the continuous improvement of organizations.
