It is with great satisfaction that we present the first issue of RIMCEO (Journal of Maintenance Engineering, Reliability and Operational Excellence), an editorial initiative of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, aimed at disseminating research, industrial experiences, and technological developments in maintenance engineering, operational reliability, asset management and integrity, risk analysis, and operational excellence.
This first edition carries significant institutional value: it brings together the contributions of faculty members from the Department as authors and co-authors, alongside final-year Maintenance Engineering students, reflecting a commitment to professional training, applied research, and industry engagement.
The seven published articles address real-world applications in sectors such as manufacturing, energy, chemical industry, power generation, and the sanitation sector, demonstrating how modern methodologies in asset management, reliability, maintenance, risk-based inspection, and root cause analysis contribute to the continuous improvement of organizations.
